So, here’s a handy mix-and-match formula to get started:

  • Base: Milk (preferably plant-based), yogurt, coconut water, water, or fresh fruit juice.

  • Veggies: Spinach, kale, mint, carrots, avocado, ginger, or cauliflower, and more.

NOTE: Although I mentioned milk above, I’m not really a fan of blending plant-based ingredients with cow’s milk.

Thus, as the parent, I leave it up to you to decide, but for the full benefit of all the ingredients going into a smoothie I rather recommend plant-based milks or other liquids.

However, the only time I suggest using cow’s milk is when there won’t be vegetables in the smoothie
, such as a peanut butter chocolate smoothie or the like.

  • Give it a fun name! “Superhero Strength Shake” or “Hulk smoothie” sounds way better than “green smoothie.”
